I created this page to provide myself an effective way of sharing my employment journey with friends and family. It is titled work different because over the past 16 years of work, I have acquired a unique set of skills that make me...me. Prior to this day my work life was divided. On the one hand I had this career in software. On the other hand a hobby turned side hustle turned e-commerce business. These 2 worlds had almost no overlap. It seemed like the 2 worlds could never co-exist. Until today. Today I was given a gift. An opportunity to search for different work that I might never have looked for had I not been forced out of my comfort zone. Work that brings together the skills and experiences I have acquired from these parallel worlds.
I am grateful for this opportunity. I am grateful for the decade and a half of gainful employment that Genesys provided me. I am grateful for their compassion in how they handled this unexpected layoff. I am grateful to my wife for her courage and support, giving me the space to grieve the loss and feel excited about the possibilities of this next chapter. I am grateful for the circle of friends that God has surrounded us with these past 6 years in Westfield. I am grateful for the strong families Carey and I came from that are always there for us. I am grateful to God for preparing us for this new chapter, for making His presence in this unexpected chapter immediately and abundantly known, for providing the runway to be fully present.
I do not know what God has planned for us, but it is crystal clear what we are supposed to bring with us on the journey. Prayer. Patience. Calm. Confidence. Curiosity. Creativity. Humility. Friendship. Family. The Sacraments. If we are faithful to these principals we cannot fail in walking the path He has laid out for us.
To Jesus through Mary,
